- When to register a business name: A sole proprietor trading under their own surname, without suggesting more than one person, may not need to register. Every partnership must register.Source
- You need a Companies Online account even for the free search.Source
- Companies Online supports Chrome, Edge and Firefox, but not Safari.Source
- Before reserving a name, search Companies Online, Corporations Canada and the trademarks database. A rejected reservation means applying and paying again.Source
- To incorporate, reserve the name, then file the articles before the reservation runs out.Source
- Expedited service doubles the fee, up to a cap on the extra charge.Source
